Jack C. Smith, III, MD is a board-certified internal medicine physician at UT Health East Texas Physicians in Carthage. Dr. Smith believes that prevention of disease is key in helping patients live long and healthy lives. “I try to engage each patient fully during their treatment process by approaching medical decision-making as a team, with the patient being the captain and the physician acting as the coach.”
Dr. Smith is fluent in Spanish and his special areas of interest include coronary artery disease, hypertension, diabetes and heart failure. He is fellowship trained in both internal medicine and cardiology. “New knowledge and research has made prevention and treatment of many diseases such as coronary artery disease and diabetes much more effective.”
